Topic for PowerPoint Presentation

The topic which I am going to be discussing and presenting to the class is Computer Science. This is the subject in which I am majoring and taking classes towards obtaining my degree. What computer science essentially is the science of computers which deals with generating codes and writing computer languages to communicate with the computer to make programs, games, and many other things.

Reaction to Powerpoint Links

I believe that the steps given in the links on the class web page are very beneficial. I also like the tips it gives to doing the things that we like doing best in a PowerPoint such as putting pictures and colors. I always thought that the best way to make the PowerPoint was to make it as colorful and with as many effects as possible to make it 'cool', but with the links I am able to see that that is not what it is all about when trying to make a PowerPoint presentation.

PowerPoint Guidelines:

-Should only contain key points and not a word for word presentation
-Not too flamboyant (effects)
-Readable (font and color)
-Originality (audio and video if possible)
-Keep it short

PowerPoint Peeves:

-So many pictures on a slide

Mr. 'Know'lan Knows All

There are several things that I was able to learn from Mr. Nolan's presentation in class about the web and using searches. I was able to learn that not all search engines are the same and that some give different results for the very exact same searches put into the computer.

I never knew about the 'Google scholar' website and how Trinity had something like that that could help one research things through what we had here in our libraries. One other new thing that I discovered was how to search for websites that only had certain suffix to it such as '.gov' or (.edu). This will come in handy when I have to do research projects and things of that nature and I have to use information only from either government or educational facility websites.

Another neat thing that I was able to learn was being able to view cached sites by Google when the actual site is down. I think this is a very cool and ingenious attribute to the Google website and will help me very much in the future.

Curb your manners

I believe that the action taken by the man in the article They Stole An Image of My Son and Just Had To Pay $4,000 to penalize the company for using the picture of his was a very good one and will set a good precedent for all the other companies and also the individuals who never seem to worry about copyright laws when obtaining digital files from the Internet.

When obtaining either a picture or a video, one has to know that someone was the author of it and has rights to that picture or video and if someone else wants to use it, he/she has to make sure that the right process is taken to obtain it. This problem seems to be an incessant one in the United States these days;however, I do believe that more people are becoming more aware of how the laws work and the seriousness of violating them
